Neuro-connections

(with Pictures)

I was a member of Russian Neural Networks Society (RNNS).

Founded by the USSR the Conference “Architecture of Neurocomputers” in Puschino in 1988, RNNS united the scientists from many republics of the former Soviet Union apart of Russia.

There I got to know such neuro-computer scientists (working closely with many of them) as:

From Ukraine - Glushkov Cybernetics Center, where I did my Ph.D.

  • Dr. Grigory Ivakhnennko and Academician Alexey Ivakhnenko, close colleagues and the founders of Group Method of Data Handling (GMDH)
  • Dr. Ernst Kussul and Dr. Michael Kussul, also close colleagues
  • Dr. Michael Reznik (Ph.D. supervisor)
  • Dr. Yulia Kapitonova (Ph.D. external reviewer)

From Russia:

  • Dr. Vladimir Vapnik, founder of Support Vector Machine (SVM)
  • Dr. Alexander A. Frolov, Institute for Higher Nervous Activity and Neurophysiology, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia (supervisor for my M.Sc. thesis)
  • Dr. Witali L. Dunin-Barkowsk, Information Transmission Problems Institute,
  • Dr. Alexander N. Gorban', Institute of Computational Modeling, Russian Academy of Sciences, Siberian Branch, Krasnoyarsk, Russia
  • Dr.Danil V. Prokhorov, Toyota Technical Center, U.S.A.
  • Dr.Vitalii I. Kryukov, Saint Daniel Monastery, Moscow, Russia
  • Dr.Vladimir G. Yakhno, Institute of Applied Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia
  • Dr.Roman M. Borisyuk, Institute of Mathematical Problems in Biology, Russian Academy of Sciences, Puschino, Moscow Region, Russia and University of Plymouth, Plymouth, UK
